Undergraduate Scholarships for Colorado Black Students
Applications are accepted from January 1 until March 1 each year. Those applicants that meet our requirements are required to attend a personal interview with the Board of Directors on a Saturday in April. The Board individually approves each grant; the average undergraduate grant is normally $4,000.00 a year. This amount could vary depending upon fund availability. We select approximately 50 new applicants per year.
The Sachs Foundation endeavors to award scholarships equally to male and female applicants as reasonably determined in conjunction with the variances in cumulative high school grade point averages and financial need. We then screen all applicants for their high school, weighted, cumulative GPA. A cumulative GPA below 3.4 has little chance of approval.
Once you have been accepted from the high school graduate level, these scholarships normally continue for four years as long as you meet our modest qualifications.
To receive subsequent grant checks, we require a grade report within 45 days of the end of the semester or quarter. Grade report submission is your responsibility to remain in the program.
Our other requirements for continuation are:
1. A CURRENT GPA of 2.5 or higher per term.
2. A minimum of 12 credit hours per term.
3. No letter grades of I, U or F.
If we receive no grade reports or correspondence with you within 45 days after the end of the your semester or quarter, you will be permanently terminated from the program so that funds can be given to someone who can meet our submission requirements.
If you receive any grades of Failure, Incomplete or Unsatisfactory your grant will be temporarily cancelled.
If we temporarily cancel a grant because of GPA, not enough credit hours or a letter grade of F, I or U, future scholarships will be automatically reinstated after we receive a satisfactory grade transcript.
A grant may be permanently terminated by the Sachs Foundation for any deliberate inaccuracy or misrepresentation made by a recipient to the Foundation, its Director, Officers or employees. A grant terminated for this reason will not be instated. A grant my be terminated by the recipient at any time.
